monday morning

#8283

Started back into the two small paintings-#8165 and #8283 from last Wednesday. Trying to paint every mark while being cognizant of the whole. Trying to stay as loose as possible. The last hour it went better.

goopy painting

#8301
Overslept and got into the studio late. Started  on the 84" x 72" #8301, as my brushes were all still messy as I forgot to clean them yesterday. The painting is so large that it is hard to passively paint. Liking it better where it ended up today. The paint is thicker and goopy. It got all over the floor and me.

over painting

#8157

"Sand Shapes" # 8157, 60 x 48, was painted several years  ago. I liked it at the time but it sat in Galleries in San Francisco and Santa Fe and now it is back in my studio again. I flipped it on it's side and decided to paint over it. It felt good to finally work over this painting. I like the start and am excited about where it could end up. Also started a 84" x 72 " canvas. I can barley reach to the top and I am tall. No idea where I am going ... just covering canvas at this point hoping something turns up.

Minimal Color

#8300

#8165 and #8283

This morning I started a new painting- #8300, 70" x 63". It went incredibly fast or at least to a point that I began to start liking it....often  I struggle much more to get this far. Trying not to think about if it is good or not so I can remain destructive and bold with it as I continue to refine it.

Went back into 2 smaller paintings-#8165, 22 x 18 and #8283, 36 x 36- that were done or at least I thought they were...neither had sold and both have been sitting around for a long time. It felt good to go back into these and am sort of excited about the prospects for them both. The small one still has a ghost image of a flower that for some reason I had painted in the corner about 2 years ago.
